What is the Difference Between Yogurt and Dahi?

Before we get to the natural face packs, let’s first clear this one thing: the difference between yogurt and dahi.

difference between yogurt and dahi

Well, dahi is made at home with little dahi left from the last batch or natural starters, like green chilies. This way, dahi has a diverse mix of natural bacteria. Its taste can vary, often mildly tangy and creamy.

Whereas yogurt is made with carefully selected bacteria in the right amount. It is a commercial & controlled process which gives it a consistent taste, slightly milder and sweeter.

But the thing is, both are rich in lactic acid, the hero ingredient that gently exfoliates & brightens the skin. So whether you see dahi or yogurt in recipes, you can use them interchangeably in face packs.

Tips to Maximize the Results of Your Homemade Face Packs

  1. Always wash your face with face wash before applying the face pack.
  2. After you use an exfoliating face pack, always use rose water after rinsing.
  3. Always patch test before applying anything to your face.
  4. For the best results, apply the face pack at least 2 times per week. But don’t overdo it, as max 3 times per week is more than enough.
  5. The best time to do skin care is in night before going to bed. Skin care followed by a good night’s sleep improves the result.
  6. The most important skincare is compulsorily washing your face with face wash before going to bed.
  7. If you have sensitive skin, avoid lemon. However, if you’ve acne & have marks on your face, then lemon is truly great for your skin.

I still remember being 16 or 17 years old when my mom told me to rub lemon directly on my face. She warned me, “It’s going to sting, but don’t touch your face.” So, I sat there resisting the sharp tingling for a good 5–7 minutes before finally washing it off. And guess what? My acne actually reduced, and my skin looked visibly brighter.

But yes, not everything works for everyone. So even if you’re going to try it, do it for lesser time, say 1 to 2 minutes only. And if it’s fine, you can go for 5 minutes.

Final Thoughts

Glowing and fresh skin doesn’t need to come from a costly serum bottle. You can get it from the organic ingredients in your kitchen as well. But you should know what ingredients work for you and which do not. Your skin needs the same care as the rest of the body, or maybe extra with patience, love, and science.
